Lappland trip 7th Jan 2010

Hi friends!
I am thinking about writing certain blogposts in english that may be intresting for my international friends and this is one of them :

I went with a company that organises trips in scandinavia mainly for international students, but also for others that want to join. http://www.scanbaltexperience.com/ check it out!

I went on the Lapland expres tour for 5 days. I have never been so north before and was a little bit sceptic since a I am a real city-(katt) But after the long busride from sthlm to Kiruna (which was fun since you got time to hang out with new people) the landscape was so amazing.

It was very white and snowy and we all had good clothing so we didnt have to freeze at all! We lived in a nice hostel in the center of Kiruna. First when we got there I with many others joined the special combitour which includes dog sleigh and snowmobiling. Both activites was so much fun and you could really experience the fantastic artic landscape with mountains and the pink/orange colorful sky in the background.

After that we went on a guided city tour in Kiruna and then went to the famous ironor mine that they have in Kiruna.

The day after we went to a sami-village (the native people of the north scandinavia) and they showed us reindeers and how they lived and told amuzing stories about the life in the cold. I bought a reindeer-fur as a souvenir from the samis. It is so warm and cozy!

In the afternoon we went to the ice-hotel in Jukkasjärvi. Cant describe it with words, it was simply amazing! Imagine a hotel made totally of clear ice, a church made of ice and bar and a lots of fine arts.... want to go back there again!!

Then we went to a norweigan city called Narvik were they live near the fjord and there are such beautyful views from there. We slept in a Nationalpark that is called Abisko in a hostel by the lake. We went to sauna the swedish way and as a plus we saw the famous northern lights!!!

We actually did A LOT of other stuff but its to long to describe. But to sum up- I LOVE LAPLAND!!!!!! I want to go back as soon as possible maybe in the summer to see the diffrence in the nature. I recommend if you come to Sweden to visit, dont miss the artic area ;)

XO/ Citykatt
